
Marko Grujić is an ambitious film director, producer, editor, and writer. Born in Zaječar, Serbia, Marko moved to the United States in 2001. While in high school, he discovered a passion for filmmaking and became involved with Gallery 37, an arts education program that helped nurture his creative development. He later studied Film Directing and Theater at Columbia College Chicago, where he honed his storytelling skills and developed his distinctive style, blending theatrical influences with bold visual storytelling.
Marko's documentary Tačno u Centar (Bullseye) (2012) screened at numerous film festivals across Europe and was broadcast on RTS, Serbia's national television network. His short film She Be the One (2014), created as his Directing III project at Columbia College Chicago, premiered at festivals in Los Angeles and New York City and is now available on Amazon Prime. His short film Unaligned (2019) is available on YouTube and has garnered more than 4 million views. Marko's newest project, The Valley (2026), is a television pilot that follows an aspiring filmmaker pursuing his dreams in Los Angeles while driving for Uber to make ends meet. Drawing from the realities and challenges faced by many artists, the series explores ambition, perseverance, and the sacrifices required to build a creative career. Through a blend of humor, drama, and authentic character-driven storytelling, The Valley offers an honest look at the struggles and triumphs of chasing success in one of the world's most competitive entertainment industries.
In addition to his narrative and documentary work, Marko has directed and edited music videos for recording artist Alana Sweetwater. He also worked on the production of the music video Anything Is Possible by Fifth Harmony, directed by Wayne Isham and sponsored by Mattel. These experiences have further expanded his creative range and reinforced his passion for visual storytelling across multiple formats.
As a filmmaker, Marko is drawn to stories about ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances. Many of his projects are inspired by real-life experiences and biographical elements, allowing him to explore the authentic emotions, struggles, and triumphs that define the human experience.
